Resumen

This paper describes the CATOPS - Composite Aerial Terrain Orthorectification Photography System developed by the University of Kentucky. CATOPS is a high-speed image processing system that produces a composite aerial image of the terrain below the flight path of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from a set of individual photographs taken from the UAV. The final composite image is geo-referenced and displayed on an interactive user interface that allows the user to zoom, pan, tile and flip through images. The powerful yet easy user interface makes CATOPS applicable to a wide variety of surveillance and mapping applications. An early version of CATOPS was used successfully by the UK Aerial Robotics team at the 2006 AUVSI student UAV competition.
