Resumen
The olefin reaction products of the potato and tobacco sesquiterpene cyclases were partially separated from each other by argenation chromatography. Arachidonic acid-elicited potato tuber discs or cellulase-elicited tobacco cell suspension cultures metabolized the olefin reaction products of potato and tobacco sesquiterpene cyclases into different sets of compounds. These results provide evidence that the two olefin cyclase products are chemically different. The Km of the potato sesquiterpene cyclase for farnesyl diphosphate was 7μM and 1.0 mM for magnesium chloride. Inorganic diphosphate inhibited enzyme activity with an ID50 of approximately 4 mM.
