Resumen
A program aimed at the synthesis and characterization of conjugated multimetallic arrays and polymers containing d6 transition metal ions, in particular RuII and Os polypyridine complexes, have been initiated. The relative kinetic stability and well characterized photophysics and redox chemistry of these complexes make them attractive for the construction of advanced materials that are responsive to external stimuli. It is demonstrated that difunctionalized coordination RuII complexes can be used as enantiomerically pure building blocks and cross coupled to difunctionalized aromatic alkynes to give conjugated multimetallic arrays and polymers.
