Resumen
Page 5537. In column I, line 60, through column 2, line 2, it is implied that the difficulty in sequencing peptides that are cross-linked to nucleic acids arises from their inability to bind well to polybrene-mated supports. In fact, peptides, cross linked or not, generally bind well to this very basic support. The difficulty in sequencing such peptides is more often due to their loss prior to sequencing. In particular, cross-linked peptides often fail to elute from reverse-phase HPLC supports ludas a strong ion-pairing agent is present, and in general, these peptides seem to be relatively insoluble and/or prone to irreversible adsorption onto plastic/glass surfaca. We thank Dr. K. Williams for bringing this ambiguity to our attention.
