Resumen
Anthropological analysis reveals a divide within the law school between the formal and informal status accorded law librarians. The two can converge optimally only when the librarian performs functions and meets standards within the university analogous to those required of traditional teaching and research faculty. The special case of tenure is given careful scrutiny.
