Employing knowledge patterns for auditing the Foundational Model of Anatomy

Resumen

We introduce an approach to auditing ontologies based on knowledge patterns. These patterns make explicit the correspondence between the domain being modeled and the representation used within the model. In this work, we first construct anatomical knowledge patterns relevant to the musculoskeletal system and then use the patterns as guides to retrieve content from the Foundational Model of Anatomy. By examining the results of the content retrievals, we demonstrate how our approach can be employed for ontology auditing and quality assurance efforts.
