Resumen

The purpose of this chapter is to understand the challenges faced by LGBT Hispanic/Latino LGBT persons in older age. In order to provide the reader with a contextual framework of Latino elders, a statistical profile is presented. Similar to other ethnic groups in the USA, Hispanics have intracultural as wells as intercultural differences. Information is presented on the Latino community’s perceptions of LGBT persons, current characteristics and values and the role of acculturation, service delivery models for LGBT Hispanic elders and health policy. Attention is given to the generational difference and immigrant and US-born influences among Latinos.
