Resumen
Making up half of the brain's dry weight, lipids are essential for the brain's structure and function. Their importance in the brain is highlighted by the number of inherited and multifactorial neurological disorders that involve dysregulated lipid metabolism. However, it is unknown if lipids contribute to these disorders through direct or indirect mechanisms. In the present chapter, we highlight the function of lipids in the brain, the effects of their perturbations, and their critical role in several different neurological disorders.
