Resumen

Trip rates and models for developments such as resorts and major hotels are commonly based on a single explanatory factor or an activity unit such as floor area, number of employees, number of rooms, etc. While useful, these ignore the combined effects of a number of variables. To improve the explanation of variances between predicted and observed trips, multi-variate analysis can be performed, thus estimating the resulting trips if the effects of several variables are considered together. Spatial interactions (agglomeration effects) between existing hotel-casinos can be accounted for through proximity analysis, an exploratory part of this research which utilized a Geographic Information System (GIS) to determine derived independent variables.
