Hybrid composite beams used for bridge

Producción científica: Article

Resumen

The world's largest span, hybrid composite I-girder bridge has been installed in Daniel Boone National Forest, USA. The 18.3 m long pedestrian bridge is the first permanent structure to use a hybrid composite section, the main girders contain both glass and carbon reinforcements. Designed by the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering Transportation Center, it is hoped it will act as a functional predecessor of future composite I-girder vehicle bridges built in the USA.
