Resumen
Mixed-body boundary element method (BEM) was used to model mufflers and silencers. Impedance matrix synthesis (IMS) was used to evaluate transmission loss (TL) instead of the traditional four pole transfer matrix. Test cases were discussed to show how TL was evaluated using IMS. Use of this method is more efficient as only one BEM matrix need to be solved for each frequency.
