IVHS and the older driver

The Intelligent Vehicle Highway System is a technological solution to improve the mobility and safety of all drivers. The two major components of these systems are Advanced Traffic Management Systems and Advanced Travel Information Systems. In this article, an overview of the components of the driving task of older drivers as affected by the aging process is presented, as well as the identification of the areas where IVHS should take into consideration the needs of older drivers as new technologies are being developed.
