N2 - We report our clinical and laboratory experience treating a 50-year-old patient who was critically ill with extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii necrotizing pneumonia complicated by empyema in Detroit, Michigan. A precision medicine approach using whole-genome sequencing, susceptibility testing, and synergy analysis guided the selection of rational combination antimicrobial therapy.
