Resumen

In the developmental cycle of any manufacturing process, achieving the desired product quality through process control will be of primary concern once the process reaches a minimum level of maturity. In order to achieve the desired surface finish, the abrasive waterjet cutting process needs to be controlled through a closed-loop feedback and control system. We know that the kinematics as well as the dynamics of the cutting process are responsible for the surface profile generating mechanism in jet cutting processes. Dynamic characterization of surface profile data is done by stochastic modeling. A novel method of auto regressive moving average model identification is utilized here for surface profile and dynamic force characterization. A technique for on-line monitoring of surface profile generated by abrasive waterjet by monitoring the dynamic workpiece normal force is proposed to complete the closed-loop feedback and control mechanism.
