Prediction of far field sound pressure of a diesel-generator using the inverse boundary element method

Producción científica: Conference contributionrevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

The inverse boundary element method (BEM) is used to reconstruct the vibration on the surface of a partially-enclosed diesel-generator set via sound pressure measurements in the near field. Then the sound pressure in the far field is predicted using a forward BEM analysis. Sound pressure measurements were made at a number of points in the far field of the generator set and compared to the predicted results. The results indicate that the vibration predicted by the inverse BEM can be used to accurately predict the sound pressure as far away as seven meters from the source. A partial BEM model using only visible elements was used to predict the same results with good success.
