Stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) is a member of the CXC group of chemokines. It is an endogenous ligand for the chemokine receptor CXCR4. SDF-1 is essential for perinatal viability, B lymphopoiesis, bone marrow myelopoiesis, and cardiac ventricular septal formation.
