Resumen
The detection of prompt γ-rays produced by the inelastic scattering of fast monoenergetic neutrons has been used to determine the elemental composition of soil samples. Multigram samples were bombarded with 2.5 MeV neutrons, and concentrations were measured by analyzing the spectrum of emitted γ-rays. Particular emphasis has been placed on the simultaneous determination of aluminum and silicon. Possible extensions of the method to light elements are suggested.
