Social Networks

Producción científica: Chapterrevisión exhaustiva

1 Cita (Scopus)

Resumen

This chapter explores the intersection of social networks and social cognition. It outlines three key theoretical frameworks: (1) social activation theories (i.e., how cognitive processes shape perceptions of network ties), (2) social selection theories (i.e., how attributes and other ties shape link formation), and (3) social influence theories (i.e., how network position and contagion dynamics affect attitudes and norms). All in all, network connections shape cognition and vice versa in an intricate process. The chapter closes by discussing network interventions targeting central nodes, clusters, and structures to influence norms and attitudes.
