Resumen

The application of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for the repair and rehabilitation of concrete structural members has numerous benefits over the traditional methods (e.g., enlarging the section, etc.). Carbon FRPs (CFRPs) have been preferred over other FRP material for strengthening Civil Engineering Structures. This study, investigates experimentally the bond characteristics of CFRP rods, the development of a CFRP rod panel system for strengthening concrete structural members, and the flexural behavior of concrete members strengthened with the rod panels. Bond tests are conducted using double strap joint specimens and flexural tests are carried out under 4-point bending on several small-scale reinforced concrete beams. Case studies of four field applications are detailed along with a discussion of the lessons learned.
