Resumen
This chapter focuses on systemic inequities in chronic disease among older adults living in the U.S. The NIA Health Disparities Framework is used to structure our discussion on social determinants of health among older populations. Specifically, the prevalence and management of chronic disease in older adults is examined at the environmental (i.e., geographic and political, health care, and socioeconomic factors) level and sociocultural levels (i.e., cultural, social, and psychological factors). The chapter ends with an overview of recommendations in the areas of research, clinical practice, and policy.
