Resumen
Reduction of electrophilic Pd(II) complexes intercalated in montmorillonite under mild conditions (0 °C in MeOH) has been shown to afford highly dispersed metallic palladium, located mainly in the inter lamellar regions of the clay. Transmission electron microscopy reveals an unusual platelet morphology for the interlamellar metal particles, suggesting that the clay structure may impose a kinetic constraint on the attainment of a thermodynamically more favorable spherical morphology.
