The molecular engineering of acenes: Avoidnig the drawbacks of improved solubility

Resumen

The technique to improve the performance of acenes was investigated using molecular engineering methods. The stability and basic electronic properties of acenes were also discussed. The charge-carrier mobility in acenes was improved by decreasing intermolecular spacing between π-faces in the solid state. It was found that the dioxolane-substituted pentacene exhibits both a blue-shift in absorption and emission along with an increase in fluorescence quantum yield.
