Resumen
Plain Language Summary Spring freezes that result in damage to winter wheat (Triticum aestivumL.) cropshave become more common in Kentucky. The nationally adopted guideline used topredict when damage will occur is based upon the length of time that air temperaturesremain at or below a threshold temperature. Additional environmental conditionswere examined to determine whether a more accurate method to predict winter wheatfreeze damage is possible. This study suggests that simply determining the averagedaily temperature may more accurately predict when freeze damage may occur inwinter wheat.
