Resumen
A computer program has been developed for use by the mining engineer for analyzing drum-type hoists prior to modification of an existing system or design of a new one. The program can be used to (1) calculate skip capacity to yield a desired production rate; (2) solve required drum face width; (3) select a permissible wire rope from a menu of 50 available types; (4) estimate total horsepower of the hoist plant; and (5) estimate power cost. An example is given.
